What's the harm in offering him a 2-year deal for say, 7 mil, if the Mariner's non-tender him? It would be so ridiculous if he comes back good from surgery and the O's have him along with all the prospects they stole from the M's. It's not really a huge risk at that money either. Even if he's #3 starter quality, it's worth it. I do feel bad for the Mariners though. They can't win here. If they tender him for just the one year, it's a waste of money. If they sign him longer term, it's too much of a risk. They could offer the same deal I mention above, but I bet, given the choice, Bedard would come back here. Very interesting...
