for some reason i expected to hate this – then was a little put off when i first saw it – then it grew on me – then i was convinced i’d seen the future and i really fucking dug it. weird.

good luck selling it to the bud-light drinking masses though.

Man, that is weird. You just described my reaction exactly. I didn’t dig this at all at first but it started growing on me immediately.

It’d obviously never work, but I think it’s an awesome concept.

yeah i could see logos like this in 2050 when the nfl has merged with nascar.

Really? I think it’s kinda the opposite. With the exception of the little logos on the back (above the feathers — feathers!) it’s brand-free. I think it’s actually a revolutionary approach.

However, I feel you on “2050 when the nfl has merged with nascar.”

There were 2 other redeisns in that issue of GQ… both were better than that one IMO. One hah claws swooping down which was the better, but it incorporated alot of red.

Reminds me of the Terminator eye. Kinda badass.

It could be worse. I dislike the “we have to make it look badass” sentiment behind it, but I like that it’s simple and not all busy looking crap shoved onto a small space.

Do Ravens really have red eyes?

That helmet is really ugly. Sorry.

    XFL came and went.

I hated it. I looked at it a few times and it just never appealed to me even for a second. I think it’s boring and lame, like when the dork pretends to be macho.

    Before its time?

Boller can’t throw. His throwing shoulder is so bad that he scratched his right ear with his left hand while jogging.

(sidenote: How much would it suck to be the “journalist” who gets stuck having to watch an injured Kyle Boller all practice, only to report where and how he scratches himself. the guy probably tells women at the bar that he’s the beat reporter for the ravens)

    Anyways…

There’s got to be at least a McCown brother somewhere that’s available? Chris Simms? There are better options than Flacco and Flu Smith. How did the ravens FO and fancy new coach let it get this bad?

I’m not so much into the “we have to make it badass” idea either, but I love the completely different approach to a helmet design. It’s not just a hard hat with a logo slapped on the side, it’s armor. There’s something about that I find really interesting.

That said, I can also completely understand the “this is crap” argument. It might actually be crap.

If nothing else, though, it’s provocative.
