NFL Week Three Thread
The last NFL Open Thread got zero traction, but I’m chalking that up to the weird circumstances surrounding the Ravens. Plus it would just seem odd not to do one.
So, the aforementioned Ravens are at home today for a late-afternoon tilt against the Browns. Division-wise, the Steelers will be at Philly while the Bengals visit the Giants. Down south, the Redskins host the Cardinals.
Ravens 13, Browns 10
Don’t forget that Justin will check in tomorrow with his Ravens wrapup.
Anyone else out there have Tomlinson on their fantasy team? Because I need some sympathy here.
Have a good one…

figured i’d change my handle until further notice – there’s nothing a motorcycle can do to him that his awful o-line can’t.
the ravens are starting to seriously intrigue me. granted, they have a long-ass season without rest to deal with, but man. i don’t know that i’ve seen them look this impressive in YEARS. i realize 2006 was a great year but so much seemed to fall in our laps that year.
there’s just something new and exciting going on with harbaugh here. part of it is this young offensive line and bruising backs. part of it is the feeling that chemistry is starting to work in other phases of the game – not just defense.
watch out pittsburgh – we’re coming for you.
How great would it be if we get Byron Leftwich in the Pitt game. I don’t know if our offense would ever get on the field… our defense would be too busy returning picks for TDs.
Like BBOL said, it’s a long year, the Bengals and Browns haven’t looked that impressive… but this was exciting. And 2-0 feels real good.
Obviously our secondary looks so much because they’re healthy right now… but what did you guys think of our linebackers in the first two games. They just seem to be playing better and hitting harder this year. Do you think that’s because Pryce is back up front attracting attention and not letting teams focus on Suggs and Scott? That’s my guess, anyway.
52 laying out kellen winslow was a dream come true.
now he needs to lay smileyface out in pittsburgh to complete my lifelong dream.
don’t get me wrong – i actually respect hines ward’s toughness but it would be great to see him truly pay the price.
i actually want ben to play if you know what i’m sayin’.
Gotta love this.
People are going to try to convince us that we could have been this good last year had there not been so many injuries. Don’t believe them. This team has a new energy from a new coach, a young quarterback, and an offensive plan with *gasp* some kind of risk and creativity involved.
And Flacco didn’t make 2 mistakes, he made 1 mistake. Any QB in the league takes a risk of getting a flee flicker bomb picked off. He was on target, the coverage was just too good. Also, he showed some serious poise in the pocket at one point, threading the needle for a completion at the very last second before getting hit. I’ll take it from my rookie QB.
Also:
No delay of game penalties! It’s like when the Orioles have games when they don’t walk anybody. Great to see.
I read this somewhere,
“Baltimore’s Joe Flacco is only the 3rd rookie since 1970 to quarterback his team to victory in his first two games.
Good News: One was John Elway
Bad News: The other was Ryan Leaf”
Monday will be exciting.
