I just don’t see him going anywhere. So it goes.

Realistically, who do you all see getting dealt? I’m assuming Sherrill, Chadford, Huff, and Roberts wouldn’t pass through waivers, so they are here or gone in 10 days, but Millar, Payton, Ramon, Walker, and Mora (though he’s not getting moved with his no trade clause, of course) probably would pass – but I don’t know if any of them are interesting to anybody out there, since that group is having a collective nightmare of a season, and some of them are known whiners when they aren’t starting.

That’s a good point about them having Posada back next year. But @ Neal, I’m not sure it even matters if they have anybody worth giving us. I’d be willing to give up Ramon for a couple of mid-level pitchers at this point.

Well, Greg, I’m guessing its a problem with the database that just copied a player. The Yankees have a few scrappy, Ecksteinian outfielders that are getting some shots recently (I guess they don’t like the weak hitting Melky Cabrera anymore), but their farm system is mostly pitching oriented, with not much to say in terms of positional guys. But they’re loaded with arms like White, Kennedy, Hughes, Horne, etc. etc. Sure they won’t all turn into big leaguers, but still, they’ve got some talent. And they’re wary of trading any of the cheap pitching away. So, you aren’t trading Ramon to the Yankees for prospects.

What you have to consider is that the Yankees will probably get Posada back next year, so why would they trade for Ramon and then have 3 catchers next year, 2 of whom are starters, and 2 of whom are vastly overpaid (that being Posada and Ramon, both of whom’s contracts look awful nowadays), not to mention the fact that the odds of these two teams helping each other out is really minimal.

Don’t the Yanks have that young SS prospect they keep bringing up every now and again?

Actually nevermind, their AAA and AA shortstop prospects are only slightly better than what we have.

It’s interesting though, on their A+ team, they have two shortstops with the same amount of playing time, with the same last name, and identical batting average and on base percentage. How the hell does even happen?

But do the Janquis even have anything we’d want? I haven’t studied the question in-depth but my impression is that their farm system is pretty depleted.

That also raises the issue of how overrated their “prospects” tend to be. What have they really produced lately? Chamberlain and Cano are decent, I suppose, but if they played on any other team they’d hardly be getting ink. Hughes remains a total mystery.

Who else is there?
