Trembley blew a lid last night in the post-game conference about some baserunning blunders. Here’s the thing: I’m glad that DT is getting fired up about these things this late in the season, but for all the talk about fundamentals and accountability, why o why o why o why did he let Ramon Hernandez dog it alllllllll fucking year? I mean, he’s clearly the worst offender, jogging after passed balls and whatnot. I love DT, but if he’s gonna talk big, he’s got to back it up with action. It’s great that he’s calling out Salazar on a mistake, but what about Ramon countless times this season? In ’09, honestly, I expect a little more from Trembley in this department. I want to see benchings when players get lazy. I want to see multi-million dollar players sulking on the bench. Infield drills, great. Calling people out, great. But 11 years of September implosions warrants, apparently, even more serious action. DT’s off to a good start, but if he wants to REALLY change the culture around here, he’s got some more work to do, if he doesn’t have a heart attack first.

That’s crazy that nobody wanted those. Not surprising, certainly, but crazy. Truth is there might be no more than 10-15k at that game — the last game of the season in a year where the team showed real progress. It’s a damn shame.

But I’ll be there. I might be alone, but I’ll be there. We should meet up and have a beer.
