O’s, Tigers, 2-3 in the Third
Picking up a little late for an open thread tonight, as Garrett Olson takes on Kenny Rogers. The Orioles are down by one as I put this up.
If you missed it, the team is doing “We Win, You Win 2″ on Sunday. If the Birds pull it off, everyone who bought a ticket gets not one but two free tickets to a future non-prime game. That’s pretty righteous.
Anybody headed down there? I’m pretty sure I’m going, so meetup potential exists. Lemme know…
What a horribly played game on both ends. Miserable. All the same, Olson hasn’t looked this good in a while. And its only a one run game. No reason we can’t win this despite the “baseball” being played.
6-4 Detroit in the bottom of the eighth…not out of reach but far from ideal. It’s pretty easy to imagine the O’s giving up 6 runs to the Tigers, but I agree all the same that Olson’s performance was encouraging. Not great, but encouraging.
We absolutely need a split in this series, somehow someway.
Ouch.
I might be down for going on Sunday. Two tickets is hard to pass up. I really want to go to a Bowie game but have no one to go with.
I’m thinking there will definitely be a quasi-organized Loss Column meetup in Bowie at some point. In August sometime, probably.
Do it early August…I’m heading back to the Great White Yonder by mid-to-late August, and I too would very much like to see the Sox in action (and not in the way Joe does).
“I have an habitual feeling of my real life having past, and that I am leading a posthumous existence.”
I was surprised to learn today that 4 games under .500 is the lowest point of the 08 campaign to date.
Even though we’re dead in the water I’m surprisingly optimistic. I certainly do not think we’ve “peaked”.
I am looking forward to the trade deadline and even more so to Garbage Time, when we will watch our children blossom into Real Life Ballplayers before our very eyes. I love it when september callups turn basement dwellers into Spoilers, killing the hopes and dreams of some foes (Rays and Yankees come to mind)
I don’t understand AooR’s trash talk, but I do love those David Bowie Baysox. Who will be the next “Starman” to make the leap? I know who it is but don’t dare mention his name on an MLB blog because I don’t want to stunt his growth.
Apparently the Os have played so bad that ESPN no longer considers them a major league team.
Because of the discrepancy between 21 and 23 I’m sure the Os are supposed to be #22, but man I can’t believe they didn’t catch this.
No Respect!
A girl called me the other day and said “Come on over, there’s nobody home.” I went over. Nobody was home.
