@Greg - Wrong! Bergesen doesn't make many prospect lists because he doesn't strike out a lot of batters (a mere 72 in 148 IP last year) and because he doesn't have any overpowering qualities. His best asset is his control, instead of say, his fastball.

I mean, com'on. If 23 is too old for Bowie, then 22 is surely too old for Frederick and thus Brian Matusz won't be making any prospect lists anytime soon...right?

Despite being Pitcher of the Year in the EL... he doesn't make any prospect lists anywhere. Why? His age, mostly.

Brad Bergesen isn't being rushed. He's almost to the point where he's too old to be relevent. Unlike Waters, Bergesen has control and could probably be a decent #4 starter in the bigs, and while that sounds bad, we desperately need someone to fill ANY role as a starter-- if it's fourth, so be it.

@Andrew - I hear you on the Rotting Factor. Like I said, I'm just impatient at the moment. And like you said, if Pie has a torrid week, I'm singing a different tune. But he's pretty much a guy who's guilty until proven innocent.

Luckily, MacPhail didn't decide to go with a guy like Waters to replace Simon (although that'd be better than watching Eaton). But what I'm saying is: it's encouraging that he went right the guy we all wanted him to go to. He didn't choose to tinker with Waters due to Bergesen having so few starts yet in AAA. We don't want to go too overboard with the "don't rush" line of thinking so it's nice to hear we'll be seeing Brad in April - just like we thought we might coming out of ST.
