“Let Me Go In and Get a Diet Soda…”

Baltimore Orioles manager Dave "DT" TrembleyIn case you missed it, that’s the official slogan of Orioles 2009. Roll it around in your head for awhile and you’ll see what I mean. This is the year we put the questions and the concerns on hold and just go get ourselves a damn soda. By 2010 we will have consumed said soda, and will be armed for bear.

Couple of quick, good links:

I think we all pretty much like Luuuuuke Scott around here, right? Here’s an article that gives us even more reason to do just that. He just seems like a damn fine individual.

Here’s an article on enhancements to the Camden Yards audio/video system this year. I’m bullish on flat screens for the concourse. That’s a winner.

Kind of hard to believe Opening Day is Monday. Did we ever get a list of who all is going?

I already liked Luke Scott to begin with, but after reading that article everybody should. That’s so cool of him to do for a young rookie or anybody for that matter. It makes me proud to wear my Luke Scott t-shirts

Luke is great. He was an instant fan favorite even before Opening Day last season simply based on some endearing quotes and the fact that he was a real left fielder. I think he’s going to have a real good year.

I dig this quote from Trembley and I dig that you’re applying it to the season. I’m gonna drink this here soda pop. You can ask me all the questions about Adam Eaton’s latest crappy start that you want, but you know… I’m just gonna drink this soda and we’ll see where we’re at down the road.

On that note.. will we see a more laid back Trembley? Has he learned that it’s not good for his heart to get so worked up over a team that’s waiting for “the cavalry”? I, for one, hope not. I hope he goes right back out there and gets right back to Respect The Game, Be Accountable, Winning Team Baseball. I hope he gets in the umps face and tosses one out himself again (god that was classic). I hope he has some harsh words for a player who’s dogging it. I hope he continues to do everything he’s been doing because it’s all about returning pride back to the organization and stamping out a losing culture. But I hope he remembers to just drink a diet soda now and then, too.

dan the man, you have it right. Didn’t BJ Upton get benched last year for not hustling? I hope that Trembley brings the same attitude. After all, I’d like to think that we have similar talent to what the Rays had last year. Maybe not so much on the pitching, but hitting we do.
