O’s/Ravens Open Thread
Let ‘em fly. O’s vs. Twins. Ravens vs. Jets. Ngata just intercepted Sanchez for a touchdown. Has there been a more exciting preseason game in recent memory? There’s a real regular season feel to this game – the place is packed and rocking.
ngata pick was awesome. ray shoulda had a pick six too.
love the look of the 4 3 defense so far aka welcome back kelly gregg.
intensity of the first half is ridiculous. i’m actually nervous.
since the jets are the only other team i like i was happy to see sanchez rebound a little bit.
Troy Smith = bad.
Back from Frontier Field, nice to see the A-team of the Ravens played pretty well against the Jets. In summary: Arrieta was impressive, the Norfolk offense was not, and despite my wishes it seems Arrieta will continue to pitch despite being at the threshold of tolerance that seems to exist for pitchers. Just keep your fucking fingers crossed on him.
@Andrew – Yeah I’m in favor of shutting him down. Glad to see that he’s turned it around at AAA. We know he can pitch there now. Shut it down.
Meanwhile, Mora always seems to come up in a crucial 2-out spot, and never delivers. He can make some fine plays at 3B but mannnn it’s going to be nice without him in the lineup next year.
Tillman took a shutout into the 5th before things kind of unraveled, but he only gave up 2 runs. Only struck out 1, but got a couple of double plays, too. Some offense would have helped him to be sure.
Dare we say that Chris Ray is back?
2 out and 2 on vs. Nathan. Wieters with a chance to tie it in the top of the 9th…
aaaaand he strikes out for the 3rd time tonight. Yikes.
pretty much ready for the season to start and now have three weeks of bullshit to sit through.
@Big Ben’s Motorcycle – Yeah, witnessing the first half of the game last night made me thirsty for real football. Notice how the offense completely stalled out as soon as Flacco left the game.
Wieters looks similar to the way Jones did last year; impatient at the plate. Matt has all the tools that say he will put together a nice 2010. So will Reimold and Jones.
We also know the pitching should be a lot better, because we have a rotation of guys who can pitch, rather than throw.
@Greg – No doubt. Starting the year off with Zero retread pitchers will be so nice.
Things are probably still moving a little fast for Wieters, I would imagine. For a rookie catcher, hitting .260ish isn’t too bad. In my mind, I’m already just waiting for next year to really judge him at all.
Oh and I should have a post up around 2pm today hopefully.
i just saw that colin cowherd loves mark teixeira and he’s his favorite player. could cowherd be more of a douche? i think not
Did Felix Pie really try to tag up on a fucking pop-up? WTF. I take back everything I said about him.
Could Matt Wieters be having one of the worst debut seasons of all the #1 picks in recent memory?
Are the Orioles doomed no matter what they do?
More on this travesty of a game tomorrow.
