Here are the things you might need to know:
Founded in late 2006, The Loss Column is Baltimore’s independent sports talk alternative.
The main page posts set the tone, but this is a community. Much of the magic happens in the comments.
The name comes from Orioles radio announcer Joe Angel, though he probably doesn’t know it. At the end of every O’s game he says “…and this one is in the ____ column.” More often than not, the blanks are filled by the world “loss”.
When it comes down to it, the Loss Column is a fact of life for any sports fan. Suffering through the losses helps make the wins more enjoyable. That, in a nutshell, is why we’re here.
If you’re looking for a taste of our organizational philosophy, check out this post from the archives, about Mark Teixeira. It’s a pretty good example of our approach.
